Waterboys : Ύμνος στον θεό Πάνα



Πέρσι τέτοια εποχή ή μάλλον λίγο πιο νωρίς στις αρχές του καλοκαιριού έζησα από κοντά την εμπειρία "Waterboys".

Την εποχή που που έκαναν τα πρώτα βήματά τους οι U2, ο Van Morisson δεν είναι καθόλου τυχαίο το απάνθισμα και διάσπαρτο κλίμα ευφορίας στην μουσική.

Οι waterboys δημιουργούν την δεκαετία του '80 ένα νέο κύμα στην Βρετανική σκήνη, έναν νέο ήχο που κινείται σε δύο βάσεις, το rock και το folk.


Οι τύποι είναι Σκοτσέζοι και Ιρλανδοί οπότε αυτό που κάνει διαφορετική και ιδιαίτερη την παρουσία τους όπως και την αίσθηση που προσδίδουν στον ήχο τους, είναι η ποικιλία οργάνων...

Όταν εννοούμε folk δεν εννοούμε μόνο παραδοσιακά Ιρλανδικά και Σκωτσέζικα όργανα αλλά εννοούμε και το ....μπουζούκι!

Φλογέρες, ιρλανδικά φλάουτα, σφυρίκτες, ταμπούρλα, Ηλεκτρικές κιθάρες, ακουστικές, κιθαρόνια, τύμπανα όλα τα κρουστά, μπάσα, πιάνο, πλήκτρα, τρομπέτες, σαξόφωνα, φυσαρμόνικες, βιολιά, φωνητικά! Μια πανδαισία ήχων!

Ο Mike Scott όπως έχετε αντιληφθεί σαν θεός Πάνας τραγουδά για την αγάπη ξορκίζοντας μάγισσες και αναζητώντας Νηρηίδες σε Κέλτικα και όχι μόνο παραμύθια και παραδόσεις.

John Alton the maestro of the Film Noir atmosphere

John Alton was an American cinematographer. He made is feature film debut in 1927 with The Student Prince in Old Heidelberg. Alton won an Academy Award for cinematography of An American in Paris, becoming the first Hungarian-born person to win it. Alton is most famous for  films noir style of the classic period . "But when I'd take most any director aside and ask him to sit down with me, he'd look at me as if I were crazy. He'd say, 'I've never sat down with a cameraman to talk about these things. What do you mean? You just pump a lot of light in!' I'd say 'You don't 'pump' light into a scene. That light has to tell something. There's a meaning, and it establishes a mood.' That was the difference between my pictures and some of the others: [in mine], each mood was different. The mood had to be done with lighting. That's my profession — not the lighting and how to light, but bringing out the mood."  ...

Phantom lady , 1944

Phantom Lady is a 1944 American film noir directed by Robert Siodmak. The film was Siodmak's first Hollywood noir and was based on the novel of the same name written by Cornell Woolrich but published under the pseudonym William Irish. Starring Franchot Tone, Ella Raines, and Alan Curtis. A devoted secretary ( Ella Raines ) risks her life to try to find the elusive woman who may prove her boss ( Alan Curtis) didn't murder his selfish wife .  Phantom Lady features an incapacitated male, leaving a strong female lead to take a determining role in the action of the story — fairly unusual for 1944. Ella Raines turns vamp, and has her femininity and internal strength quoshed, as she plays dangerous on the streets, the concert hall, on bars and the shadows of the " psychopathic" killer who is revealed by his weaknesses and mistakes. James 2008 - Tim Booth

Ποτέ δεν μπόρεσα να καταλάβω πώς ένας μοντέρνος χορευτής, ιδιόρυθμος ηθοποιός ξεσήκωσε τα εφηβικά μου όνειρα, φώλιασε στις απόκρυφες σκέψεις και επιθυμίες μου, τραγούδησε τα συναισθήματά μου..κέρδισε τα πρώτα riffs στις μουσικές χορδές μου, σιγοψιθύρισε σκόπους αναζήτησης στα βήματά μου...μου έριξε φως στις σκοτεινές πλευρές του έρωτα και κάθισε σαν αγκάθι στα συναισθήματά μου..κάτι που δεν με εγκαταλείπει όπως κάθε δάκρυ πόνου ή αγάπης που έχουμε μέσα μας όταν δεν το έχουμε δεχτεί. Οι James κυκλοφόρησαν το νέο album "Hey Ma" Δεν θα ήθελα να μπω άμεσα στη διαδικασία παράθεσης συναισθημάτων για τον ήχο και τα διάφορα ακούσματα, πραγματικά είναι νωρίς...όσοι αγάπησαν το "Seven" , το " Laid" ή το "millionaires" θα καταλάβουν ότι πρέπει να αφεθούν πρώτα, να δοθούν στην μουσική και μετά να κρίνουν... Στα χρόνια της εφηβείας μας στο σχολείο ακούσαμε πρώτη φορά το " So many ways " και το μουσικό ταξίδι μόλις είχε αρχίσει..Πιστεύετε ότι τ...
