The Roaring Twenties - 1939

The Roaring Twenties is an American crime thriller film directed by Raoul Walsh. Starring James Cagney, Priscilla Lane, Humphrey Bogart, and Gladys George. The protagonists return from the war with good intentions to start a calm, orderly and easy going life.  Lloyd  (Jeffrey Lynn) becomes a lawyer, but Eddie (James Cagney) can only find work as a cab driver.  However, the reality is not as they thought.  The economic recession, unemployment and the prohibition of alcohol create the conditions for the birth of a new crime syndicate that invents ways to have access to easy money. Eddie eventually falls into the bootlegging business and meanwhile he has fallen in love with a young talented girl  (Priscilla Lane) who was an admirer during the war, but the girl, as it will turn out later, had been in love with his lawyer partner.
